Marketing Before I Knew What It Was
It is true… I started marketing the day I decided to help my brother get into his first band. It started there, with music, with family, and for the love of my brother.
Austin, Texas Music
The lure of music was a bit different for me. It was the behind the scenes stuff that I craved. The booking, the shows, the recording, the photographs, the promotion and production of it all. I loved all of the behind the scenes “work” that went into it.
To my delight, I was fortunate to land a booking gig for a live music venue on 6th Street in Austin, Texas. I did this while simultaneously managing some local bands. This allowed me to start using some of my photography skills. It is here that I would get to watch some of Austin’s best videographers work their magic behind and in front of the cameras. I was mesmerized.
Marlboro
It was a wonderful time of life. I had more fun than I could ever have asked for. However, as you may or may not know… music doesn’t typically pay well. When my successes in the music arena landed me recognition, it lead to an extended stint with Marlboro, the king of tobacco. The scene was very similar and the pay was much better!
Then I ran Marlboro’s Bar Program for several years under two different marketing companies. It was a good gig and I was happy to have it.
Marketing Director
However, all that nightlife work found me trying to find something a little less exciting believe it or not. After some soul searching, I landed at a lab as their marketing director. Another good gig I was happy to have.
Eight years later I went out on my own and I never looked back.
Corona & Modelo Tour Production
From 2019 – 2020 I oversaw production for the Corona & Modelo live music tours. It was great fun getting back to my music roots. I was able to work with some of the finest Artists, DJs, Venues, Production Teams, and Marketing Teams across the United States.
Success
Lastly, I have had a successful career because I have had the opportunity to work for amazing companies and brilliant people. It is not a coincidence that I succeed. It was bred into me by my parents and nurtured by the companies and people I have worked for and with.
